Abstract. In the bioindication studies of lichens, the selection of phorophytes should be one of the first tasks when launching monitoring research. During the research on Quercus robur, Quercus petraea and Quercus rubra conducted in western Poland in 2006–2008, 54 epiphyte lichens were identified. The obtained results allowed for the statement that western Wielkopolska is abundant in oak lichen species. As oak communities are very common in Poland, there is possible to utilize oak lichens in bioindication studies in the vast majority of this country.
Key words: Quercus robur, Quercus petraea, Quercus rubra, monitoring guidelines.
